How much does Dext cost per month?
Dext costs from $25.21 a month for one business when you pay yearly, which is $302.50 a year, excluding tax. That entry price includes 250 documents a month and 5 users, plus a small free allowance of heavier extraction: 10 sheets of bank statement, 5 documents with line items and 5 supplier statements. Paying month to month costs more, since Dext says annual billing is up to 20 percent cheaper.
That is the business price. A bookkeeper or accounting firm is on a different price list, and that is where most QuickBooks Online practices will land. The rest of this guide covers both, using the figures on Dext's own US pricing pages, and shows where the bill grows.
One note before the numbers. Software prices change, and Dext builds partner quotes around your client list. Treat everything below as a way to check a quote, not as a substitute for one.
Dext pricing for accountants and bookkeepers
Dext prices its partner plans per client, per month. There are two plans. Essentials covers capture, extraction and publishing to the ledger. Advanced adds team and location setup, custom workflows, practice insights and time tracking. Both require at least 10 clients, both are annual subscriptions billed monthly, and Dext says the per client rate falls as your client list grows.
The exact per client figure comes from Dext's plan builder rather than a fixed public table, so you get it by entering your client count and features. A few add-ons are listed openly for partners:
- Data health and insights at $7.50 per client per month, for data quality checks and client health scores.
- Commerce Lite at $7.50 per client per month, for Shopify, WooCommerce and other marketplace data.
- AI Assist custom guidance at $7 per client per month on both plans.
The structure matters more than any single number. Per client pricing means your Dext bill rises with every client you sign, whether that client sends five receipts a month or five hundred. For a practice with a long tail of small clients, that is the line to watch.

The add-ons that move the bill
Dext separates everyday capture from what it calls heavier extraction. Each plan includes a free allowance, and above it you either pay as you go or buy a monthly bundle. Per its US extraction pricing page:
- Line item extraction is $0.50 a document pay as you go, or from $20.50 a month for a 50 document bundle.
- Supplier statement extraction is $0.50 a document pay as you go, or from $20.50 a month for 50.
- Bank statement extraction is $0.32 a document pay as you go, or from $13 a month for 50.
Two details trip practices up. Unused bundle documents do not roll over to the next month, and anything above your free allowance plus your bundle is charged at the pay as you go rate. For a construction or property client where every supplier invoice needs line items for job costing, those half dollar charges add up quickly.
A worked example for a 25 client QuickBooks Online practice
Here is how to build your own estimate. Take a practice with 25 client companies, all on QuickBooks Online, sending about 2,000 documents a month between them. Around 300 of those are supplier invoices that need line items for job costing, and the team pulls 40 pages of PDF bank statements a month for clients without a bank feed.
- Base plan. 25 clients times your quoted per client rate on Essentials or Advanced.
- Line items. 300 documents, less the free allowance, at $0.50 each, or several 50 document bundles at $20.50.
- Bank statements. 40 documents, less the free allowance, at $0.32 each.
- Optional add-ons. Data health or Commerce Lite at $7.50 per client for the clients who need them.
Write those four lines down next to your quote and you will see your real monthly cost, not the headline. Then compare it with a pooled model. On ReceiptQBO, the Bookkeeper plan is $299 a month, or $149 a month billed yearly, for up to 25 client companies and 2,500 documents pooled across them, with line items included in the document count. The ReceiptQBO pricing page lists every plan.
The pooled model has a limit of its own, and you should weigh it fairly. It only posts to QuickBooks Online, and it does not turn PDF bank statements into transactions. If a client hands you PDF statements, a separate tool to convert bank statements into QuickBooks Online files fills that gap before matching.

Is Dext worth the money for a QuickBooks Online practice?
Dext is worth it for practices that keep clients on several ledgers, need its wide integration list, or want its practice dashboards. It is a mature product used by thousands of firms, and per client pricing is predictable when every client is a similar size.
It is a harder sell when three things are true at once: every client is on QuickBooks Online, many clients are small, and a good share of documents need line items. In that case you pay a per client fee for clients who barely use the tool, plus extraction charges on the documents that matter most for job costing. That is the profile where practices start looking at a Dext alternative built only for QuickBooks Online.
The fairest test is a parallel month. Put your messiest client through Dext's 14 day trial and any alternative you are considering, then count the items a person had to touch, the receipts that posted twice or missed the bank match, and the receipts still missing at close. Those numbers, multiplied by your hourly rate, usually outweigh the subscription difference.
Contract terms to check before you sign
Price per month is only part of the deal. Read these terms on any capture tool, Dext included.
- Cancellation. Per Dext's pricing FAQ, a monthly business plan can be cancelled any time before renewal, while an annual plan needs 30 days notice before the renewal date. Put that date in your calendar the day you sign.
- Minimums. The partner plans start at 10 clients, so a solo bookkeeper with six clients still pays for ten.
- Roll over. Extraction bundles reset every month, so size them for a normal month and let peaks fall to pay as you go.
- Exit. Receipt images already published to QuickBooks Online stay attached to their transactions if you leave. Supplier rules usually have to be rebuilt in the next tool, so keep a list of your most used rules.
If you are comparing more than one vendor, our Hubdoc vs Dext comparison for QuickBooks Online practices covers the workflow side, and the AutoEntry alternative page breaks down AutoEntry's credit pricing in the same way.

Questions about Dext pricing
Does Dext charge per client?
Yes, for accountants and bookkeepers. Dext partner plans are priced per client per month with a 10 client minimum, and the rate drops as the number of clients grows. Single businesses pay a plan based on users and documents instead.
Is there a free version of Dext?
No. Dext offers a 14 day free trial without a card, then a paid plan. ReceiptQBO also has no free plan, but anyone can read one receipt on the site without an account before choosing a paid plan.
Can I cancel Dext anytime?
Monthly business plans can be cancelled before the renewal date. Annual plans need 30 days notice before renewal, per Dext's pricing FAQ.
Is ReceiptQBO cheaper than Dext?
For a QuickBooks Online practice with many small clients and itemized supplier invoices, often yes, because ReceiptQBO prices by practice with pooled documents and line items included. For a firm on several ledgers, Dext covers ledgers ReceiptQBO does not.
